Department of Business Administration
The Department of Business Administration at Gono Bishwabidyalay started functioning in 2011. The Department at present offer only four years' Bachelor degree, BBA (Hons.)
The mission of the department is to generate and disseminate knowledge amongst the students in various fields of Business Studies eg. Finance and Banking, Accounting, Marketing and Management. The students will be provided with upto-date knowledge in business education, imparted training and motivated to create research aptitude and also develop advisory competence. The students will be exposed to the practical aspects of business studies, to the diversity of the work force and competitiveness of the world market.
The academic programmers of the Department of Business Administration is so far designed that the students will become acquainted with the common body of knowledge in business and administration, will receive specialized training in professional fields and they will earn the skill to intellectual curiosity and become equipped to meet the challenges of a changing economic environment and develop entrepreneurship skills.

1st - 6th Semester
Out of all these courses 35 are core and among the core courses, 27 are 3 credit, 7 are 2 credit, one is 1 credit. Six (6) courses are 3 credit (major), three (3) courses are 3 credit (minor) and an internship covering three (3) credit hours. 1st to 6th semester there are 6 oral examinations of 0.75 credit hour each and for 7th semester oral examination of 1.5 credit hour to be held at the end of the each semester. Students will simultaneously get a major and a minor from any of the following areas of business administration. Concentrations in the major and minor areas of the BBA program are as follows:
Relevant assignments, presentations, quizzes, exams, visual aids, field works, and class exercises will be performed throughout the program to understand the relation between the real world situation and theoretical learning.
Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Kabir

Dr. Kabir is a Professor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) in the Department of Statistics. He served JU as a Syndicate and Senate member in 2002 and 2005 respectively. He did his PhD in Applied Statistics from the University of Malaya (UM) and achieved the “UM Excellence Awards of PhD Candidates with Highest Impact Publications” in 2013. Dr. Kabir published more than 30 articles and majority of them are in the high impact international journals. During his PhD, he visited several countries including Germany, France, Belgium, Netherland, Malaysia, and Singapore for presenting papers and attending conferences & seminars. In addition, he completed a 3-credit course on “Epidemilogy and Biostatistics” from the University of Bielefeld, Germany. Dr. Kabir involved several national and international projects under the organization of Mitra & Associates, and Eminence, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Kabir has 16 years teaching experiences in JU. Besides, he has the teaching experiences in the reputed private universities in Bangladesh including North South University (NSU), Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and South East University (SEU). He also has the teaching experiences in abroad.
Md. Rubel Hossain
Mr. Hossain has completed his BBA & MBA program from Rajshahi University under Marketing Department. He did a research work on “Shrimp Export Marketing of Bangladesh: Issues & Challenges”. Now, he is working at Gono Bishshwabiddaylay in the Department of Business Administration as an Assistant Lecture.
Tahsina Islam has completed her graduation (BBA) and post graduation (MBA) from Institute of Business Administration, Jahangirnagar University, and concentration is on Finance and Marketing. Her research area was on “Credit card usage: A Comparative Analysis between Male & Female Cardholders”. She worked in a private university of Dhaka for 1 year. He is serving at Gono Bishwabidyalay as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration from September, 2014.
Md. Touhidul Islam
Mr. Islam has completed his graduation (BBA) in 2011 and post graduation (MBA) degree in 2012 from Rajshahi University (RU) under the Department of Finance & Banking (F&B). He has done an Internship program on “Loan Disbursement and Recovery: A study in ‘RAKUB’ Rajshahi branch” in his BBA program and intensive research work based on “Mobile Banking in Bangladesh: A Study in Rajshahi University area” in his MBA program. He joined in this university on January 14, 2015 and now he is still working in this Department.
Md. Shariful Islam
Mr. Shariful Islam joined Department of Business Administration at Gono Bishwabidyalay as “Assistant Lecturer” in 12 June, 2016. He successfully completed his postgraduate degree with ‘merit position 1st’ (in 2014) and undergraduate degree with ‘the highest distinction’ (in 2013) from Jahangirnagar University. He has been awarded excellence certificates and scholarships throughout his academic career. Besides Marketing, he teaches general business courses occasionally. His research interests swivel around marketing and finance related issues. He has published more than five (05) refereed papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals. He did research on (1) “Impact of Superior Customer Service, Product Quality and Corporate Social Responsibilities on The Reputation of Banks: A Study on Commercial Banks of Bangladesh”, (2) “Reasons behind the Practices of Green Banking by Commercial Banks: A Empirical Study on Bangladesh”, (3) “Factors Affecting the Stock Price Movement: A Case Study on Dhaka Stock Exchange”, (4) “Service Gaps of a Banking System: A case study on Basic Bank”, and (5) “Impact of Service Quality on Customer Loyalty: A Study of Commercial Banks in Dhaka, Bangladesh”.
Mst. Sadia Arefin
Mst. Sadia Arefin has completed her graduation (BBA) and post graduation (MBA) under the department of Marketing from Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. She has done an Internship program on “Service Marketing of Private Commercial Banks in Bangladesh: A Comprehensive Study on Mercantile Bank Ltd. , Rangpur Branch” in her BBA program and intensive research work based on “Marketing Practices of Real Estate Business in Bangladesh: A Study on Dhaka City” in her MBA program. She has joined at Gono Bishwabidyalay on June 13, 2016 and now she is serving in this Bishwabidyalay as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration.
Kazi Shahinul Samad
Mr. Kazi Shahinul Samad joined Department of Business Administration at GONO Bishwabidyalay as “Assistant Lecturer” in 1st March, 2016. Before that he served as a Teaching Assistant at “United Internationl University (UIU). He has done a thesis paper on "A Study to Find the Effect of Different Types of Cows and Their Milking Time on Milk Production" and a research on Garment Workers at "Bangladesh Occupatonal Safety, Health and Environment Foundation (OSHE)". He also worked in Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) at Department of statistics in Jahangirnagar University.
Jasmin Aktar has completed her graduation (Economics) and post graduation (Economics) from Jahangirnagar University. Her research area was on “Garment workers’’ and ‘Jute situation in Bangladesh’’ . She also worked in Primary Education Quality at Department of Economics in Jahangirnagar University. .Her research interest is on ‘‘Consumer Rights ‘’. . Before that he served as a Teacher in a private university of Dhaka . She has joined Department of Business Administration at GONO Bishwabidyalay as “Assistant Lecturer” in 2nd March, 2016.
Imtiaz Jahangir Murad

Mr. Imtiaz joined Department of Business Administration at Gono Bishwabidyalay as “Assistant Lecturer” on April 1, 2017. He successfully completed both undergraduate and postgraduate degree from Department of Finance, University of Dhaka. He conducted a research work on “Determinants of Capital Structure of Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) in Bangladesh” for the completion of post-graduation degree. He also conducted an Internship report on “An enquiry into Feasibility of Bank: A Case of Foreign Exchange Corporate Branch of Janata Bank Limited” as a requirement of undergraduate program.
Department of Business Administration
The department has a special Computer Lab with all modern facilities. To enrich the knowledge of our students regarding modern technologies there is a full time computer lab assistant who always tries his best to help the students.
Besides the central library of the University, there is also a departmental library in our Business Administration Department. Students can borrow any book by using their library card.
To make the students dynamic to compete with the complex business world and to create awareness among the students, Business Administration Department lunched a Career Club in November, 2013.
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DEBATING CLUB (BADC) is running under the supervision of the teachers of the department to enrich the student’s talents.
Seminars/ workshops on important academic/ business issues and lectures/ presentations by eminent academician/ professionals/ experts are organized throughout the academic year for the students. The students of this department are able to gather realistic knowledge from these seminars, workshops and lectures.
Like other renowned public and private universities, Gono Bishwabidyalay also established the IQAC to support the university in achieving its mission & vision through providing good quality education. The department of business administration is also under the supervision of such quality assurance cell.
