Department of Physics

I, Captain (Retd) Professor Dr. Md. Ziaul Ahsan, , Bangladesh Navy, on behalf of all faculty members and staff welcome you all to the Department of Physics, which is a degree awarding department. This department was established in 2014 as a combined department of chemistry and physics. In pursuance of the current education policy of the government, Gono Bishwabidyalay, under the faculty of Science and Engineering, started running this combined department and offering four years degree (honors) course in Chemistry and Physics separately. Besides, this department is also conducting foundation courses for the students of Gono Bishwabidyalay pursuing studies in other science and engineering disciplines. This combined department plays pioneer role in our country to produce competent teachers starting from secondary level to undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is worth mentioning that this combined department is now operating as Department of Physics and Department of Chemistry separately to meet the requirements of Unique Code given by UGC since 1st June 2023. This division may be considered as a new addition to the progress of this university. The vision and objectives of this department are as follows:
