Department of Statistics is not independent department. It is supporting department of Gono Bishwabidyalay. Statistics introduce some statistical concepts associated with producing, presenting and interpreting data, to develop skills in critical analysis and synthesis of statistical information, to provide the opportunity to demonstrate statistical literacy skills. The objective of statistics is to extract information from data in order to better understand the situations that these data portray. In modern time statistics play vital role for development of a country. Considering the importance of statistics, Gono Bishwabidyalay authority considered that it should be learned for students of different departments.
